OBI Conference on the Protection and Exploitation of Industrial Property

Great participation in the OBI workshop on "Protection and Exploitation of Industrial Property at National and European Level"

On Wednesday 20 March 2024, the Mediterranean Agri-Food Competence Centre MACC, in the context of the extroversion of the Science and Technology Park of Crete, organized a workshop of the Industrial Property Organization OBI on "Protection and Exploitation of Industrial Property at National and European Level".

More than 70 attendees gathered in the conference room of the KEK Technical Schools of Heraklion Chamber and attended the talks in person, while a large participation from all over Greece was recorded in the live broadcast via MACC's social media.

The conference was opened by Dr. George Papamichael, Director of the Scientific Technology Park of Crete (ETEP Crete) and welcomed by Maximos Senetakis, Deputy Minister of Development & Investment, Dr. Michalis Katharakis, Head of the MACC Mediterranean Centre of Excellence, Leonidas Dragumanos, Vice President of the Board of Directors of OBI, Georgios Manousakis, MACC Network Development Manager and Evangelos Glakas, President of the Chamber of Economy of Eastern Crete Regional Department.

The conference was attended by the guests Mrs.Chrysa Daskalaki, Director General of Development Planning of the Region of Crete, Mr.Spyros Balantinos, Councillor of the Region of Crete for the Interconnection of Tourism with the Primary Sector, Mrs. Maria Petradonaki, Director of the Regional Development Company of Crete and Mr. Antonis Papaderakis, Special Advisor on Innovation of the Region of Crete.

The speakers of the workshop were Michaela Markaki, Lawyer, OBI Judicial Directorate on "Intellectual Property Rights - Overview", Dr. Kyriaki Glynou, Chemist, OBI Examiner on "Patent Protection of Inventions in Greece", Christina Andrikopoulou, Chemist, OBI Examiner on "Protection of Inventions with Patents in Greece", Christina Andrikopoulou, Chemist, OBI Examiner on: "New Service for the Support of Start-up and Small and Medium Enterprises", George Kefalogiannis, representative of the OVI on "Electronic Filing of National Trademark" and two representatives of the European Patent Office who were connected via zoom on "Software and Algorithm Protection: how innovation in IT is protected" and "Unitary Patent and the European Patent".

The workshop was moderated by Mrs. Rania Zacharopoulou, Head of the Communication Department of the OBI.
